Bottle Notes, Pinot Noir

2014 AldenAlli Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast – Bottle Notes

AldenAlli is a collaboration between the families Dan Kosta and Emeril Lagasse. The winery is named after their wifes Alli Kosta and Alden Lagasse. The initial release was a 2013 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir. In 2015 the lineup expanded to include a single vineyard Pinot Noir from Campbell Ranch and a Zinfandel from Limerick Lane Vineyard. More Pinot Noir and a Chardonnay have been added as well. Shane Finley is the winemaker at AldenAlli.

The Sonoma Coast is a blend from Campbell Ranch, Gap’s Crown and Sunchase vineyards.

Ruby red in color. 14.1% ABV. Stunning nose of red fruits, baking spices, citrus and forest floor. Medium body with perfect acidity. Starting to show some intriguing earthy characteristics. Black cherry, cranberry, blood orange and earth on the palate. Tremendous length on the finish. This is the fourth time I have had this wine over the last half dozen years and it is still incredibly compelling. Drink over the next several years.

My rating: 93 points.

AldenAlli is just getting started. The 2019 version of this wine will be released later this year. I trust Dan Kosta and encourage readers to consider signing up for the mailing list.
