New Releases from Toil Oregon

Toil Oregon was founded in 2012 by Chris Figgins. Chris is the President and Winemaking Director for Figgins Family Wine Estates. At present time this includes Leonetti, Figgins and Toil Oregon. Figgins Family Wine Estates has acquired a 42-acre parcel of extraordinary land in the Chehalem Mountains AVA of Willamette Valley. This will become the Estate Vineyard and future winery home of Toil Oregon.

The winery recently sent me samples from their Spring Release.

2020 Toil Oregon Rosé of Pinot Noir Willamette Valley – Reddish orange in color. 13.3% ABV. Pretty nose of fresh red fruits, spice and flowers. Medium body with mouth watering acidity. Fresh, crisp and lively. Strawberry, watermelon, rhubarb and earth on the palate. Nice length on the finish. This should be fantastic as the weather warms up. Best over the next several years. $25 at the winery. My rating: 91 points.

2019 Toil Oregon Chardonnay Willamette Valley – Gold in color. 13.5% ABV. Charming nose of pears, lemon oil and flowers. Medium to full bodied with bright acidity. Rich and lush with nice texture. Apple, Meyer Lemon, butterscotch and spice on the palate. Tremendous length on the finish. The best Toil Oregon Chardonnay to date. Best over the next 3-5 years. $40 at the winery. My rating: 93 points.

2019 Toil Oregon Pinot Noir Willamette Valley – Crimson in color. Gorgeous nose of red fruits, cola, baking spices and earth. Medium body with exquisite acidity. Elegant and graceful. Cherry, strawberry, black tea and earth on the palate. The finish is exceptionally long and seamless. The first vintage from Toil Oregon to include Estate fruit and the difference is palpable. Best over the next 6-8 years. $50 at the winery. My rating: 94 points.

The mailing list at Toil Oregon is still open and the wines reviewed above were recently released. Chris Figgins is still honing his craft as it pertains to Oregon wines and I look forward to following this project in the years to come.
