Bottle Notes, Syrah

2017 Efeste Syrah Ceidleigh – Bottle Notes

Efeste, pronounced like the letters “F-S-T” strung together, was named after the last names of founders Helen & Dan Ferrelli, Patrick Smith, and Kevin & Angela Taylor. Efeste is located in the Warehouse District of Woodinville, Washington. They also have a cool tasting room in the SoDo District. Mark Fiore is the current winemaker at Efeste.

Ceidleigh is 100% Syrah sourced from Angela’s Vineyard.

Purple in color. 14.5% ABV. Savory nose of dark fruits, bacon fat and olive brine. Full bodied with strong acidity. Opulent fruit and big in structure. Black cherry, blackberry liqueur, game and pepper on the palate. Exceptional length on the finish. Young Syrah that is dark and brooding. Give this some time in the cellar. Best over the next 4-7 years.

My rating: 91 points.

Ceidleigh can be found at retail for about $45 per bottle.

Efeste has one of the best white wine programs in the state of Washington and the red wines are also exceptional. The wines are readily available at retail, via the wine club and at the winery.
