2015 Bedrock Wine Co. Zinfandel Esola Vineyard – Bottle Notes

Bedrock Wine Co. was founded by Morgan Twain-Peterson in 2007 and focuses on small production wines from many of California’ s most treasured and historic vineyards. The lineup of wines at Bedrock is expanding rapidly, but I think the best of the best are the ancient vineyard Zinfandels and Field Blends, Morgan is clearly passionate about.

Esola Vineyard lies in the heart of Amador’s Shenandoah Valley. The vineyard was planted in the late 60’s. In the 70’s and 80’s the grapes were used by Ridge in their Shenandoah bottling.

Crimson in color. 14.4% ABV. Brilliant perfumed nose of brambly red fruits, peach and baking spices. Medium body with mouth watering acidity. Bursting with bright fruit and perfectly balanced. Cherries, raspberry liqueur and pepper on the palate. Tremendous length on the finish. This Zinfandel showcases Bedrock at its absolute best. Drink over the next 2-3 years.

My rating: 94 points.

The mailing list at Bedrock is highly recommended. Exceptional wines, fair prices and great customer service. Put your name on the waiting list.
